Never guess chemical compatibility
Never mix sodium hypochlorite with acids, ammonia, or unknown chemicals. Dangerous gases, heat, pressure, or other reactions can occur. Use only clean, compatible, correctly labeled containers, hoses, fittings, tools, and measuring equipment.
If a product has an unreadable label, unknown contents, uncertain concentration, or unclear compatibility, isolate it and verify through an authoritative source before proceeding. Do not use Batch Mix to infer compatibility.
Personal protective equipment and ventilation
Use the PPE required by the product label, SDS, equipment manufacturer, training, and site conditions. This may include protection for eyes, face, skin, hands, feet, and breathing, but Batch Mix does not select PPE.
Work only with ventilation appropriate to the product and process. Never enter or create a confined or poorly ventilated chemical environment without the required assessment, training, equipment, and procedures.
Protect people, animals, property, and the work area
Assess nearby people and animals, occupants, workers, traffic, electrical risks, windows, vehicles, painted or delicate materials, metals, landscaping, air intakes, neighboring property, wind, temperature, and weather before starting.
Control access to the work area. Test a small hidden area using authoritative instructions, allow enough time to evaluate the result, and stop if the material changes unexpectedly.
Plants, drainage, runoff, and the environment
Identify plants, soil, storm drains, waterways, wastewater paths, wells, sensitive areas, and local containment or disposal requirements before mixing or applying. Follow product instructions and local rules for protection, collection, neutralization, cleanup, and disposal.
Batch Mix does not determine a lawful or environmentally appropriate runoff plan.
Storage, transport, and handling
Keep chemicals in approved, compatible, clearly labeled containers with required closures, separation, temperature control, ventilation, and secondary containment. Follow SDS and manufacturer limits for storage life and transport. Keep incompatible materials separated.
Do not use drink containers, unlabeled containers, damaged equipment, or tools contaminated by an unknown chemical. Prepare for spills and exposure using the response information supplied by the authoritative product source.
Check every calculation and every input
Before mixing, confirm the selected unit, intended final volume, source identity and strength, target strength, additive displacement, and whether the calculation is a tank batch or downstream estimate. Check that source and target percentages use the same basis.
Actual chemical strength can change with age and storage. Injector draw can change with equipment, hose, tip, pressure, wear, and viscosity. Bucket-test downstream equipment and do not treat an estimate as a measured result.
Stop and walk away when needed
Do not proceed when chemical identity, compatibility, concentration, site conditions, equipment condition, PPE, ventilation, containment, runoff requirements, surface response, or your own training is insufficient. Leave the area safely and obtain qualified help when conditions exceed your knowledge or scope.
For an exposure, spill, fire, or dangerous reaction, follow the product SDS and local emergency procedures immediately. Batch Mix support is not an emergency or poison-control service.
